CHINA -
Ningxia Yanchi coal reserves
Ningxia
Geology and Environment Monitoring Department places the resources
at 200 million tonnes which could be the first large-scale coal
production facility in Ningxia. With an extent of 25 square kilometer,
the occurrence is estimated over 12 layers with a maximum thickness of
6.26 meters. One third of the deposit is expected to contain coking
coal.
NAMIBIA -
extending undersea mineral wealth
Bonaparte Diamond Mining ,
Australia's only marine diamond miner announces the potential to mine
marine phosphates as an extension of its diamond mining and continuing
exploration.. Marine diamond mining is established in Namibia and the
operations 40 kms off the coast is not expected to pose additional
environmental issues. The current practice is to backfill the mined
surface with all the dredged material except the final product and allow
the natural rebuild.
